Hatha yoga was introduced to the western audience by Indian guru in mid 19th century. This form of yoga is traditionally defined as the means of attaining a state of yoga through force (hatha). It is the practice of cultivating physical health and mental well being through a series of postures, pranayama and dhyana. These techniques together help to attain the balance between body and mind or sun and moon. In the RYT200 course, We believe in keeping the essence of hatha yoga in a way that brings proper balance , stability, flexibility and strength to our students and also teach them how to relax in a pose rather than reaching the pose.
Prana means life and Yama means control. The practice of pranayama involves breathing techniques such as nadi sodha pranayama, sithali pranayama, ujjayi pranayama, kapalabharti, bhastrika pranayama, bramari pranayama, AnuLoma villoma and sheetkari pranayama. we teach about the science of Yogic breathing. Taking a breath is the first and the last action, which all living beings do in their lifetime that’s why it is important to have quality and conscious breathing.
Meditation is not just ordinary concentration but a special type of internal concentration meditation. Each path of sadhana begins in a different way and every path has a stage which corresponds to mediation. Patanjali’s yoga begins with purification of mind, posture and breath control followed by withdrawal of the mind from external objects pratyahara and fixing the mind dharana at a particular centre. Then comes meditation (dhyana )

BAVA Beach Resort & Retreat Center is our tropical home. It bears the name of the program leader and is primarily designed to host our groups during the winter months when it is cold in Europe and we long for warmth and sunshine. The resort is located on the Varkala North Cliff (above the sea and sandy beach) in a green quiet oasis filled with giant bamboos, majestic trees, palms and other flowers, yet only a few steps away from all the restaurants, bars and sunset views of the Arabian Sea.
We have a choice of several types of rooms in two buildings: Lalitha Yoga Academy and BAVA RESORT (Luxury AC Rooms).
Varkala, Kerala
The closest international airport is Thiruvananthapuram (TRV), just a little over an hour drive from our resort. You should arrive no later than mid day or early evening on November 1st and plan to leave by mid-day on November 14th, unless you extend your stay at the resort and yoga academy that you can arrange by writing to us after receiving inscription confirmation.
Airport transfer from Thiruvananthapuram will be arranged and included in the package. We cannot take care of transfers from other airports in Kerala, but there are regular trains connecting all cities. Should you wish to come earlier or stay longer, please do contact us so that we can arrange it with the resort and let you know the options and accommodation prices.
Lalitha Yoga Academy is known for offering authentic yoga experiences with a warm and supportive atmosphere. Our retreat is carefully designed to help students relax, heal, and reconnect with themselves through traditional yoga and holistic wellness practices.
Since body and mind are actually one pshycho-physical unit, whatever goes into the body actually feeds the mind. During these ten days we intend to maintain the mind as pure as possible to grant you the opportunity for real lasting change.
The two meals we serve are a combination of European and Indian breakfast options and traditional South Indian main meal adjusted to western non-spice taste.
All made of sattvic foods which are those that promote the maintenance of mind-body balance, and help to experience lightness, clarity and peace, therefore excluding meat, fish and eggs, and including fresh fruit, vegetables, whole grains, dairy, legumes, nuts and seeds.
Vegan options available.
